Proud and adoring parents and grandparents could be seen whipping out digital cameras and cell phones, shooting pictures and waving, as a band of five-year-olds marched into the auditorium. What better excuse to being late at work than the end of the year closing production of combined kindergarten classes, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” It wasn’t exactly the Robert Southey version. I don’t remember the Bears living in a pink house. All the little girls were dressed in pink, and all the little boys wore Ewok ears. It was delightful to hear a revival of Zippity-Do-Da worked into the routine.
So who stole the show? You’d think I’d say my granddaughter who was on stage with the group, front row. She certainly knew all the hand and face moves. But no, it was the Mouse, on my lap. He spotted a stuffed bear, and while maybe he did not steal the show, he certainly did steal the bear.
(Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the video heist from my husband’s cell phone to this post.)
