The Timex family

Perhaps I am too brash about my family or divulge too much.  I may even chide and tease them for being slightly off normal one way or another.

So I just want my readers to know that the adventures and trials my family members have survived (sometimes dragging me right behind for the ride) have made them the character-rich people they are.  That the choices of those before me, after me, and around me may not always be wise, healthy or even logical (I can say that because all my decisions are so stellar — right!), but that my family, quirks and all, are fun, good-hearted, delightful people.  And because of my love for each of them, I am the person I am today.  Even if I weren’t stuck (do I remember making a choice?) in this family, I would choose them as friends.

They are my Timex family, “takes a licking, and keeps on ticking.”  That’s the watch you put on for everyday, the one you wear when you honestly want to know what time it is.  And no one else will give you the time of day.  Not the Movado (that I can’t see what the heck time it is), not the Concord (that you’re afraid you’ll lose so you don’t wear it) or the Rolex (always a stand out, never a team player).

I love my Timex family.  I can say anything about my family, present or past, as long as I don’t write it down, and humorous, slightly doctored up things if I do.  Just remember, if you try to say funny, slightly questionable things about them, I’ll probably beat you up.

I always think of how wonderful your family sounds – you wouldn’t be you without all of the love, guideance and benefit of their experiences. I appreciate you sharing with us.
