Seder light

The other night my husband and I were invited to a Seder, hosted by a friend who hesitantly was throwing her first Passover dinner.  Most of it was conducted in English and the script was slightly altered for brevity.  A few scattered Hebrew passages and prayers added respect to the ceremony.

As a goy, I was not an expert at Seders, although it was not my first.  Other couples in attendance were much more skilled at what they should be doing, and had no bashfulness in telling us so.  In fact, one lady who bred dogs admitted she had a Barkmitzvah for one of her puppies.

The Exodus of the Jews from Egypt as told in Veggie Tales is not too far removed from each of our own travels through life.  We experience salt in our wounds and bitter herbs, but we are held together with our very own Charoset, the sweet mortar family provides, and are willing to make sacrifices out of our love for God and family.

Seems like the Jews are always on the leading edge.  It wasn’t until the other night I discovered that they had actually come up with the idea of lettuce wraps. :-)

The correct way to remove spiders is, (1) yes to stand on a sturdy platform, but swatting is unnecessary. (2) You take a small clear container, (3) cover the spider with it, (4) then slide a thin piece of cardboard between the ceiling (or wall, or floor, or countertop) and the container thus trapping the spider inside. (5) Observe the spider in the container for a minute– they are very interesting and, after all, are helpful in that they eat other, sometimes harmful insects. (6) Then carry the spider outside and dump him (or her) out of the container.
