The fourth of July means many things to us — fireworks extravaganzas, flag raisings, neighborhood barbecues, patriotic marches, snow cones, and more.
Lend this day to commit to more service, just as those who are serving us in the states and abroad, while we attend our flag raisings, fireworks shows, wave our flags, and eat our hot dogs. This week find someone who needs your assistance, take a meal into a homebound person or someone who is ill, attend a community meeting, visit an old folks home. And today pray or meditate for those allowing you the freedom to celebrate the 4th of July.
Happy birthday, America.
