Pirates’ chests

Saxton the purple pirateLast night Couponman (two-for-one special) and I took the grandkids (all three) to see a swashbuckling pirate production.  The price — a fortune of gold coins and our sanity.  We sat in the purple pirate rooting section.  You’re probably thinking I picked it because I’m old and wear purple.  You would be so wrong.  The purple pirate had the best chest ever.  And I’m not talkin’ a chest of glittering jewels.  If there had been a chest competition, I’d put up Saxton’s, my purple pirate, pecs against my sister’s breathless encounter anytime.

“You are supposed to eat your soup,” another pirate said to my granddaughter, the Worm, as we sat filling out accident forms in the lobby, “not wear it.”  While I tended to the feeding needs of three children, one on my lap, in the dark while loud activities blared on stage, and obviously not doing any of my assigned tasks very well, the Worm, wiggly is her usual way, pulled a hot bowl of vegetable soup towards her.  The bowl tipped and the liquid spilled on her right thigh.

The little Mouse fell asleep during the swashbuckling, while the Worm and the Bug waved color-changing-glow-in-the-dark swords that set us back another small fortune of gold coins.

Being taken hostage on a real pirate ship may have been easier and more fun, at least one with eye candy like Saxton at the helm.Saxton with grandkids

Good thing you have such a great guy in Couponman – I’d hate to see you run off with the pirates :)
