Orange kitties, Harry Potter and leftovers

Jack-o-lanternsOkay, so Halloween theme night didn’t end up exactly like it was planned.  The Worm Orange kittydecided she wanted to be Hermione’s orange kitty from Harry Potter.  The GAP bought an “easy” pattern.  “Since when is 21-piece pattern easy?” she called and asked.

“The pattern didn’t say quick,” I replied.

“Do you think I’m fostering the 3rd child syndrome with the baby?” she whined.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“Basically neglect,” she said.  “I bought a Gryffindor tie and put together the rest of the Bug’s Ron Weasley costume.  I’m sewing the Worm’s orange cat costume.  But I don’t have anything for the baby to wear.”

Ahh, Zombie“Oh,” I said, “that’s a no brainer.  When anyone says, ‘Zombie Baby,’ he stretches out his little arms in front of him, rocks from side to side, and says, ‘Ahhhhhh’ real scary.  Get some old clothes, cut them up, plaster his face white with some dark circles and you’re done.”

“I can’t do that.”

“Sure you can.  The only other thing he can do is make a fish face.  So it’s either a Zombie or Nemo.”

“Okay, I’ll make him a zombie,” she said.

“He can’t be a zombie,” I overheard the Worm in the background.

The GAP handed the phone to her. “Why,” I asked, can’t your brother be a zombie?” I asked her.

“I’m scared of zombies,” she admitted.

“But you know already know it’s your baby brother,” I said.  Duh.

“I’m still scared.”  I could hear her sulking.  She handed the phone back to her mom.

“Won’t it look cheap?” the GAP asked.

“No,” I lied.  Sure it would look cheap, but it’d be quick.

Ron Weasley in the Halloween cave

Good night, Ron Weasley.  Good night, fluffly orange kitty.  Good night, Baby Zombie.

Zombie Baby

Finally my bad photography paid off. Don't you think the red eye enhances the zombie look?

There were lots of cute babies, but no other little baby zombies.  All the other baby zombies must have been fast asleep.

I’ve heard that Zombies are hard to photograph so you didn’t an excellent job — especially catching his red eyes!

I had no idea Jen was such a perfectionist. She struck me as really “roll with it” when we were in college…
