One of those days

Weight on backI’d had one of those days where I was ignored, overlooked, and basically felt I had the weight of the world on my back.  I felt alone, and misunderstood.  Then I remembered I was a grandma.  You know where I was headed, right?

I walked into my daughter’s to hoots and hollers as I called out, “Grandma’s here.”  The eight-year-old Bug gave me a quick hug while the five-year-old Worm jumped in my arms.  The eighteen-month-old Worm lagged behind the others as he cautiously climbed the few steps from the family room, all the while squealing to make sure he wasn’t left out.

Up against a wall   Falling over sideways  A-frame

They all had something to show me.  Even the little Mouse.  I watched him turn his first somersaults.  He was up against a wall, flipped on his side, and got caught in a standing A-frame.  That’s exactly how I had felt before the visit.

And then magic.  He had a little help, until he flipped over on his own.

Somersault help

I guess that’s all it takes to change your day.  Effort, stamina, persistence, and one good flip (or three cute grandkids).

Three cute grand kids would improve anybody’s day! Glad they were there to brighten yours.

Yes, oh yes. I do know the feeling Penny – maybe not as often as I would like, but it’s crazy how truly easy it is to feel good – if only we take that one step in that direction instead of wallow in self-pity. Good for you!!!!

  3. Love the somersault action shots! Grandkids make every day better, that’s for sure. Glad they did their magic on you.

Did I tell you about what Miriam said to me as I was “dying” with my chronic anemia? Don’t worry, Grandma, if you die and go to heaven. When I get to heaven, I will come and find you! Wish we could have skipped the kid-step and gone right on to the grandkids-step! They are much more accepting, forgiving, and loving (so far)!
    Love, Valerie
