New monkey in town

Baby monkeyLast night I stopped by to see my new niece.  I was greeted at the door with a bottle of anti-bacterial wash and a facemask.  I don’t think the facemask had anything to do with cleanliness; I think they didn’t want me to scare the baby.  :-)   (It’s really funny that next to a brand new baby, you really show your age!)

As I bent down to pick up baby Anika, I was advised to make sure that I supported the back of her little head.  Man, how handy that little tidbit of information would have been a few decades earlier before my four children, who incidentally survived, came into the world.  No wonder my kids are so unstable (that’s a joke, at least part of the time).  It can probably be traced back to that flopping neck.

I remember the newness of my first born – and my desire to protect her from the world.  Poor, Cheezy, by the time number four came along…  You know the story.  His pajamas had holes in the knees, not to mention the pink flowers.  He got the lukewarm bath water after everyone else had bathed.  He ran away from home one time for half a day before he was even missed.  Come to think of it, he told me he had run away from home AFTER HIS RETURN before I knew he’d even been gone.

My sister, the youngest of four, spent one whole day under the bed crying.  She thought she’d been adopted, because she had no baby book.

Welcome to the world baby Anika, the newest little monkey in town.  I can hardly wait to introduce her to the Bug, the Worm, and the Mouse.
