The little mouse that roared

The mouse now twenty-two months old has just finished his seventh round of antibiotics since June.  Tubes in his ears could be put off no more.  So yesterday he underwent surgery — a twenty minute procedure.  I imagined little Maddoc in the Attic, a Dr. Seuss sounding name, coming out looking a little like the Gak with large red and blue tubes protruding from his little ears.  Surprisingly, other than being a little groggy and a little cranky and roaring, he didn’t look too worse the wear.

I have seen medical magic many times this year in the hands of skilled physicians and surgeons.  From the little grains of rice slipped into slits behind the Mouse’s ear drum to the nasty cancerous tumors in my sister attacked with ferocity.  What greater gift than health can we ask for?

May your upcoming year be a healthy and happy one.
