Fantasy Parenthood

“What’s all this Fantasy sports stuff,” I asked.  “I don’t get it.”

“You’re the manager of say a baseball team,” Hot Wheelz explained.  “You choose the players you want to have on your dream team.  Then you are awarded points, like for example, two points if your player gets a stolen base.   Your pitcher would get points for how many innings he pitched and his ERA.  Your basemen, catchers, outfielders, get points for hits, homeruns, and defensive plays.  At the end of each week, you add up your points.  The manager in your league with the most points wins.

“The same for football and basketball.  You get points for what your players do in those sports.

“You can trade players if they get injured or aren’t on their game any more.  I had one player that was hot in the beginning, then his batting average dropped way down, so I traded him.”

“Do you have to pay to trade?” I asked.

“Yeah, fifty cents,” he said, ”and in my league, I can only have six trades per week.”

Fifty cents, huh?  What a deal.  Not bad for an upgrade.

This got my wheels a-churnin’.  I thought why not get a Fantasy Parenthood League going?  As a parent, you earn points if you get them to clean their room, do their homework, get along with their siblings, and say no to drugs.  If they don’t eat their leafy green veggies, you can trade them.

Problem is, what if no one accumulates enough points to win.

Cute article Penny. Love you blog ; )

Jr. plays fantasy games quite often. He even wins sometime.

I don’t get it either. He doesn’t have the patience to explain. I’m not sure I have the patience to learn.

I think the Fantasy Parenthood league would be easier with dependent, young children than grown ones. Even then I don’t think I’d ever win.

Well, I may never win the fantasy parent league but I could make a bunch of other people feel really good about their ‘teams’….

  4. Sue says:

Your Fantasy Parenthood would be a great idea except that would be like trading someone for their problems instead of what you’ve got on your plate …. that might not work out. Better keep what we’ve got.

I want to see more photos of the grandchildren. So humor me too, grandma.

How are you and Jennifer doing? I hope you are both happy and in good health.
