Don’t stop believing

DSB BandYesterday, my husband infamous for trying to find a steal called to brag he’d purchased tickets to a star-studded concert with Journey and Bon Jovi for $7 apiece.  He might have been a little suspicious if he’d checked out the venue and found it was being held in someone’s garage, but then again, you know how the economy’s taken a dip.

So while my daughter, the GAP, and her husband, Mr. Green Jeans, were taking a trip with my three grandchildren to the happiest place on earth (or at 100°, maybe the hottest place on earth), Couponman and I headed off to a concert of tribute (my comrades at work quickly uncovered) bands.  I didn’t know much about Bon Jovi before last night, but after listening to a few numbers, I recognized a few of the songs from when I’d yelled at my kids, “Turn that noise down,” years ago.

The other imposters, DSB, performed Journey and nailed it.  Afterwards I was a believer in the journey.  (Oops, or was the Monkees?)

Don’t stop believing in the magic Disneyland brings to little ones even in sweltering heat.  It was the Mouse’s first trip to the kingdom.  “We went in musical notesthe Tiki-Tiki room, the Tiki-Tiki Roommusical notes,” the Worm sang to me this morning.

“And we went on Splash Mountain,” added the Bug.  “I even raised my hands and said ‘Woo-woo.’”  That’s a biggie, coming from the kid who runs from he vacuum.

“What about the Dumbo ride?” I asked over the phone.

“Yeah,” he said, “the Mouse liked that one too.”  Dumbo had a facelift, but other than that, hadn’t changed much over the years.  I’d liked it, too, a hundred years ago or so when Disneyland opened.

Don’t stop believing my husband and I will find something we have in common.  See, bad photography.

Don’t stop believing in great deals out there.  Tonight my husband and I were entertained and fed for $15 — $7 each for the tickets and $1 for a meal at Applebee’s (remember the $25 gift card I found after MIA for two years).

Don’t stop believing in good people.  Our neighbors at the LOUD concert were a fun twosome.  We all admit we now believe; we just can’t hear.

Don’t ever stop believing…
