Out of the clear blue sky, like the opening of stage curtains for an entertaining Broadway show…
Pick a little, talk a little. Laugh, laugh, laugh. Pick a little more, talk a little more. Laugh again.
Question: What do you get, when for 48-hours, you cross eleven “aged-to-perfection” women, a luxurious and spacious beach house, three pounds of bacon, and a Costco-size bag of M&M’s?
Answer: A glimpse of Heaven. This small bite of paradise was super-sized with the accompaniment of the crash of breaking waves spraying a fine mist on glowing, laughing faces on the various sized bodies wearing last season’s (or was it last century’s) swimsuit fashions? A spectacular view of surfers on the horizon, a gray dolphin or two jumping in the distance from deep waters, a display of glorious star constellations as seen from a nightly soak in a hot whirling Jacuzzi tub, a never-ending buffet spread, give way to the most essential commodity — the unspoken vow of silence. What happens in Ventura, stays in Ventura.
Eleven women entering the beach mansion, each arriving with a unique set of burdens, left today feeling a little lighter (definitely not evidenced from numbers popping up on the scales). I can hardly wipe the smile from my face.
Diamonds in the rough had transformed into crown diamonds in the sand. Look out Kate Middleton. Today we were all princesses.
Thank you, Sally, for allowing ten women to extravagantly celebrate your birthday. We can hardly wait for you to get older next year.

Sounds like heaven to some of us guys, too.
Beach, bacon, babes AND M and M’s. Wow!
I’m so jealous!! AND M&Ms!!
You have such a great eloquent way of putting things. You forgot to mention the silly games, crocheting, necklace making, craft shopping and the Gelletto run.
You also forgot to mention the thrill of connecting with a new friend. I haven’t lost my smile yet either, but I have found a new will to hang in there and hope for better
I had the best time, relaxing, laughing and spending time with the ladies I love and adore. I still have a smile on my face and love how you have summed up everything so well. The beach is so beautiful and I also can’t wait for next year. Maybe we should escape somewhere sooner. Thanks, Sally, for making it all possible.
It was a wonderful 48 hours. I am so glad to know these 11 ladies and to have the joy of looking forward to doing it again in 12 months!
