Some days just beckon action — either to begin something or end something.
Like New Years. Like the day after Thanksgiving. Like Mondays. I always start diets after a fulfilling weekend. Even better when Monday falls on the first day of a new month, then I can stay calorie conscious for at least three days. And I am good for a week when the new year begins on a Monday.
Sometimes I start dieting the last week before the beginning of the next month, so I can clean my house first. Diets go better with a spotless house. Leafy vegetables look better against the see-thru drawers, without the squished tomato. You feel in control of your life and your surroundings.
My friend George once attended Weight Watchers with a room full of older corpulent ladies, a young fat guy (that would be George), and one skinny instructress. In his words,
“One day in the Jenny Craig classroom. The skinny little thing asked each of us how we got rid of the household junk food in preparation for joining Weight Watchers.
“Some said they simply tossed the stuff in the trash, while others gave it to their neighbors or took it to work. A few said they couldn’t toss the stuff because of family members. When it came to my turn, all of the ladies turned around and stared at me. “I ate it all,” I answered.
“My WW grade point average went down that day but my popularity skyrocketed.”
Special days can be the birthdates of your children. Or even your own birthday. I always set a goal to look drop dead gorgeous by my birthday. Only the gift of years that keeps on giving never gets me there.
On the other hand, “special days” in the middle of the week are harder to find. But today is one of those WTF (Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays — get your mind out of the gutter) days you might find memorable — the launching of MY NEW BLOG — SoHumorMe.

I knew it was time to let Punny Ponderings by Penny die, when a friend said she enjoyed reading my Puny Ponderings. I may have a small mind, but there is nothing puny about my thoughts.
I’ve left Blogger in the dust, so please read, add Comments to the posts (I think it will be easier than in the past), and subscribe to SoHumorMe. I want to prove to my kids that there are people out there who like me and listen to what I have to say — more than can fit in an elevator.
So glad to see you here.
Smiles, Penny

i love the pictures and the idea of eating all my throw out stuff. i watch jillian michaels and she always makes them throw out their stuff…and i think…it’s gonna take them weeks to restock their fridge…and you know they will.
The banner is a collage of my kids’ smiles. I like how it turned out.
Cute story Penny! WTF? Very punny! Keep up the great work ; )
I really had to laugh out loud–VERY audibly–during the middle section about eating all yours. I think I’ve done that a few times, too, though you’re very brave to admit it! (And now I am) haha
I liked it.
